Bree Clayton

Bree Clayton is the Director of Development and Communications for the Asheville City Schools Foundation, where she helps tell the story of Asheville City Schools and the community that surrounds it. She leads the Foundation's communications, marketing, fundraising, and community engagement efforts, connecting people with opportunities to support local students and educators.

As a proud public school graduate and a first-generation college graduate, Bree knows firsthand the difference a great public school can make. School gave her a place to belong, educators who believed in her, and the confidence to imagine a future she hadn't seen before. That experience continues to shape both her work and her purpose.

Before joining the Foundation, Bree taught middle school in Henderson County, where she founded the Marable Mentorship Program for young men of color. She earned Henderson County Public Schools' Beginning Teacher of the Year and finished as a top-five finalist for North Carolina Beginning Teacher of the Year.

Bree earned her bachelor's degree in Communication from North Carolina State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Urban Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
