Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. It is critical that our Asheville City Schools graduates have the opportunity to move on to higher learning and careers. That is why we are committed to award over $200,000 in new and renewing scholarships each year to support students as they continue to excel after graduation. Since 2000, over 3.2 million has been awarded to Asheville High and SILSA graduates.

Andrea Arrington - The Asheville Promise Scholarship
Andrea will attend North Carolina Central University to study fashion or social work. Her biggest goal is to set a good example for those younger than her. Awarded in honor of Mrs. Elinor B. Earle.

Imani Bellamy - Reed Scholarship for Applied Awesomeness
Imani will attend UNC Charlotte to study the medical field. She dreams of becoming a women’s health physician to support BIPOC women.

 

Charlotte Berg - Paddison Family Scholarship
Charlotte will attend UNC Chapel Hill. She dreams of becoming an occupational therapist.

Eli Berry - The Seth David Shillcock Olson Scholarship Eli will attend UNC Greensboro to study with education or psychology. She is excited to use the leadership skills she's gained at Asheville High in her future career.

 

Barfuo Boakye-Boaten -The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship
Barfuo will attend North Carolina State University to study economics. He plans to pursue even higher education, then find a job where he can facilitate the revitalization of his community.

Anna Bobbitt - The Deutsch Family Scholarship
Anna will attend Mount Holyoke College to study Architecture. She aspires to design homes that are both sustainable and humanitarian. Awarded in loving memory of Carol Deutsch.

 

Zhtaviya Byrd - The Lee H. Edwards High School Class of 48’ Scholarship Zhtaviya will attend North Carolina A&T University to study pre-med. She dreams of becoming a surgical technologist.

Kasiyah Byrd -The Deutsch Family Scholarship Kasiyah will attend Allen University to study pre-med. She dreams of becoming an obstetrician. She believes that minority patients should have more options in their choice of minority doctors. Awarded in loving memory of Carol Deutsch.

 

Max Crum - Reed Scholarship for Applied Awesomeness Max will attend UNC Greensboro. He dreams of writing for film, TV, and comic books, and eventually working for Marvel.

Harper Dechant - The Charles and Eleanor Wykle Scholarship  Harper will attend North Carolina State to study Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Biology. She is an aspiring Ob/Gyn with a focus on providing women with equitable access to healthcare.

 

Gracie Dillard - The Pepsi Cola Scholarship Gracie will attend AB Technical Community College to study culinary. She is passionate about creative arts and introducing kids to theater.

Emma Doty - Paddison Family Scholarship Emma will attend NC State University to study chemistry. She has a deep love for nature and hopes to go into the field of environmental chemistry.

 

Greenleigh Elgie - The Mitchell and Shannan Carlisle Memorial Scholarship Greenleigh will attend UNC Chapel Hill to study Psychology. She has a strong passion for learning and Holistic Neuro-Psychology.

Daijah Elliott - Paddison Family Scholarship Daijah will attend UNC Greensboro to study biology. She is passionate about eliminating racial disparities in healthcare.

 

Teonah Gates - The Lee H. Edwards Class of ‘48 Scholarship Teonah will attend North Carolina Central University to study biology. She plans to be a cosmetic dentist.

N’Deye Diakhou Gaye - Paddison Family Scholarship Diakhou will attend UNC Charlotte to pursue a degree in psychology. She dreams of becoming a therapist to support BIPOC teens in low-income communities.

 

Tanner Graham - The Asheville Promise Scholarship Tanner will attend Mars Hill College where he will play football and study business administration. Tanner is passionate about leadership. Awarded in honor of Mrs. Elinor B. Earle.

Lorya Harbison - The Lee H. Edwards High School Class of 51’ Scholarship Lorya will attend AB Technical Community College to study culinary arts. She dreams of continuing her love of cooking by becoming a chef.

 

Morghyan Harbison -The Charles and Eleanor Wykle Scholarship Morghyan will attend AB Technical Community College to study education. She aspires to be the best teacher that she can be.

Aleysha Hill - The Charles and Eleanor Wykle Scholarship  Aleysha will attend Lees Mcrae College to study social work and/or criminal justice. She is passionate about community advocacy.

 

Tyshauna Jacobs - The Asheville Promise Scholarship  Tyshauna will attend UNC Greensboro where she plans to study business. She dreams of owning a hair salon one day. Awarded in honor of Mrs. Elinor B. Earle.

Salvador Lopez - The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship  Salvador will attend the University of North Carolina-Greensboro to study nursing or pre-med. He dreams of becoming a plastic surgeon that will provide equitable medical services across diverse populations.

 

Hayden Lowman - The Lee H. Edwards High School Class of ‘48 Scholarship Hayden will attend Appalachian State University to study education. She aspires to work with others as an advocate.

Makayla Mayton - Peterson-Stanley Future Educator Scholarship Makayla will attend UNC Greensboro to study history education. They dream of creating an engaging and welcoming environment for diverse learners in their classroom.

 

Asia McAdams - The Deutsch Family Scholarship  Asia will attend UNC Asheville to study sociology. She is excited to continue advocating for and supporting youth of Asheville. Awarded in loving memory of Carol Deutsch.

Nancy Membreno - Reed Scholarship for Applied Awesomeness  Nancy will attend UNC Chapel Hill to study education. She is passionate about working with adolescents and making a difference in her community.

 

Juvae Mullings - Paddison Family Scholarship  Juvae will attend UNC Asheville to study mass communication. He dreams of becoming a professional video editor. 

Magnus Myers -The Charles and Eleanor Wykle Scholarship  Magnus will attend UNC School of the Arts to study Music Composition and Recording Arts. He is an aspiring composer and musician.

 

Nazaret Nolan - Paddison Family Scholarship  Nazaret will attend UNC Chapel Hill to study political science. She dreams of supporting marginalized people through law, social work, or the medical field. 

Doni Palma-Roberto - Paddison Family Scholarship Doni plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill to study social-psychology. She is passionate about supporting communities around her.

 

Amyah Pate - The Asheville Promise Scholarship  Amyah will attend North Carolina Central University to study Biomedical Sciences. She plans to be an OB/GYN Doctor and improve health care for the BIPOC community. Awarded in honor of Mrs. Elinor B. Earle.

Uzaydx Punch - The Charles and Eleanor Wykle Scholarship  Uzaydx will attend UNC Asheville to study general education. She is excited to continue her education and to progress as an artist.

 

Sam Rattigan - The Dr. Keith Black Scholarship Sam will attend UNC Chapel Hill to study environmental science. He is passionate about helping mitigate the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.

Reginald “RJay” Redfern - The Charles and Eleanor Wykle Scholarship  RJay will attend North Carolina Central University to study entrepreneurship. He dreams of owning a hairstyling business. 

 

Josie Robinette - The Bill Dechant Memorial Scholarship  Josie will attend Anglo-American University to study international studies with a minor in Italian. She hopes to be immersed into different facets of global studies.

Ximena Ruvalcaba Sanchez - Paddison Family Scholarship  Ximena will attend Berea College to study the medical and psychological field. She dreams of becoming a pediatric psychiatrist.

 

Iris Schreiner - Paddison Family Scholarship  Iris will attend Point Park University to study dance performing arts and social work. She is an aspiring professional ballerina.

Saril Scott - The Chris Merrill Memorial Scholarship  Saril will attend UNC Greensboro to study social work. She plans to minor in law and continue to work with children and families.

 

Makayla Sheetz - Paddison Family Scholarship  Makayla will attend UNC Charlotte to study nursing. She is an aspiring entrepreneur.

Paridise Smith - Paddison Family Scholarship  Paridise will attend Western Carolina University to study Forensic Sciences. She is an aspiring forensic pathologist.

 

Ameerah Splawn - The UU Asheville-Hetland Scholarship  Ameerah will attend North Carolina A&T University to study nursing and law. She is passionate about community advocacy making sure everybody has a voice.

Alexandra Thomas - The City of Asheville Scholarship  Alex will attend Belmont Abbey College to study education. Her goal is to give all people the opportunity to be successful. 

 

Kaliyah Thomas - Paddison Family Scholarship
Kaliyah will attend Salem College to study Biochemistry. She plans to pursue a further education and career in anesthesiology. 

Kirsten Watt - The Bruce and Jean Larson Community Service Scholarship  Kirsten will attend Bridgewater College to study athletic training and play basketball. She is grateful for sports and would not be the person she is today without them.

 

Honesti Whiteside - Paddison Family Scholarship  Honesti will attend the University of Illinois to study Industrial Arts. She is passionate about how design can influence the future, and encourage sustainability and social change.

Evan Wilker - The John B. Lewis Scholarship  Evan will attend UNC Chapel Hill to study either sustainability, art history, or writing. Evan strives to be the best advocate for justice wherever she goes.

 

Aaliyah Younts -The Lee H. Edwards High School Class of 51’ Scholarship  Aaliyah will attend North Carolina Central University. She hopes to pursue a career in the medical field.
