The ACSF Voice
Our voice reflects who we are: a community-centered organization that believes in the power of public education, celebrates the people who make our schools special, and works alongside our community to help every student thrive.
When we communicate, we want people to feel connected to our work, proud of our public schools, and invited to be part of what comes next. We tell the true stories of our students, educators, families, alumni, and community partners with honesty, warmth, and respect. We celebrate what's working, acknowledge the challenges our schools face, and show why public education matters to all of us.
Our voice is:
Warm and human. Write like a real person talking to their community, not an institution talking at an audience.
Positive and grounded. Celebrate student genius, educator creativity, and the joy of learning without exaggerating or glossing over challenges.
Community-centered. Show that public schools belong to all of us and that everyone has a role to play in their success.
Honest and specific. Use real stories, names, details, and numbers whenever possible. Let the work speak for itself.
Inviting, not overly formal or fundraising-focused. Make people feel like they are part of the story, not just being asked to support it.
Above all, we tell stories with our students and school community, not just about them. We lead with their voices, recognize their strengths, and represent their experiences with care. Our goal is to help Asheville see the full, true story of its public schools and understand what's possible when we invest in them together.
When in doubt, keep it clear, keep it human, and remember who we're here for.
