NitaJade Jackson

NitaJade, an Affrilachian Poet, was born and raised in Western NC. They earned their B.A. from Berea College (2019) and their MFA in Creative Writing: Poetry from the University of Kentucky (2022). They insist that their late O.G. Queen's sweet potato pie epitomizes love, and they aspire to embody the aesthetics of sloths and narwhals (slarwhals, if you please). They laugh loudly and stubbornly.

In pursuit of more fulfilling work, NitaJade stepped away from private higher education and began a career in the nonprofit world in 2024. In their spare time, they work with American Pride Rises on various DEI-affirming campaigns, stress bake gluten free desserts that actually taste good, and write/create as often as possible. They're proud to join Asheville City Schools Foundation as Program Manager.
