the jessie mae jones memorial scholarship fund

Mrs. Jessie Mae Jones was the daughter of the late Louis and Ida Wallace Robinson. Mrs. Jones was born in Buncombe County, NC on January 11, 1936 and passed away August 20th 2017.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Jones; brother, Louis Robinson, Jr.; sister, Essie Mae Hughes and stepson, Heywood Petty.

Her memories will live on in the hearts of a special nephew, Nathaniel Robinson of Greenville, South Carolina; stepson, Robert Petty (Gail) and Ervin Petty and grandchildren of Asheville, North Carolina; a host of other relatives and a lifetime of close friends.

Mrs. Jones was one of the oldest members of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she seved as a Deaconesss, Trustee, a member of the  food committee and anywhere else she was needed.

When she was not in the yard, she was in the kitchen preparing the best meals you have ever eaten. The Asheville City Schools Foundation has established a memorial scholarship in her name. The scholarship will be designated for an entrepreneurial and/or culinary scholarship for an outstanding African American female student from Asheville High School.
