Student Scholarships
Awards or renews scholarships totaling over $70,000 each year to graduating seniors at AHS. The Foundation administers numerous scholarship funds, both endowed and annually funded, created by generous individuals from the community. We also assist students and their families by hosting financial aid workshops.
Teacher Scholarship and Support Program
Awards scholarships to ACS employees to fund the pursuit of educational goals of all kinds- from workshops to graduate degrees. In collaboration with ACS, the Foundation offers mentoring support for new and lateral entry teachers. Additionally, a National Board Certification support program is available during the school year. Awards usually range from $200 - $400 and applicants are encouraged to continue applying for support until their goal is reached.
Emergency Family Assistance
Provides food and supplies for students and families in urgent need. Once traditional resources are used up, social workers from the schools can apply to the Foundation for funds to help families in crisis.
City of Asheville Youth Leadership Academy (CAYLA)
Places students in summer internships with weekly workshops on leadership, life, and college prep skills. In addition to summer work opportunities, CAYLA engages students throughout the school year in volunteer service projects and awards each student a $2,000 college savings account upon successful completion of the program. CAYLA is funded by the City of Asheville and the scholarships are administered by the Foundation.
