Scholarships
The Foundation provides resources for educational success of ACS students. One of the primary ways the Foundation helps students is through student scholarships for graduating AHS seniors. Over $70,000 in annually funded and endowed scholarships funded by donors from the community are awarded each year to students pursuing college.

Asheville City Schools Dependent Scholarship Program - Awards equal scholarships on a noncompetitive basis to all qualified applicants each year. To qualify a student must be a graduating senior at Asheville High School, be the dependent (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) of a thirty - hour a week or more employee of the Asheville City Schools System, be accepted and intend to enroll in a two or four – year institution of higher learning in the fall following graduation and make application by the published deadline.
Application Deadline: June 30, 2008.
Stephens-Lee Alumni Association Scholarship Program - Open to students who are direct descendants of Stephens-Lee or Catholic Hill alumni.
Application Deadline: May 1, 2008.
Brian Ling Memorial Scholarship Program (BCMSA) - Awards a scholarship in memory of Dr. Brian Ling. Dr. Ling, a respected and devoted physician, served his patients with compassion, humor, and interest in their lives. The BCMSA is searching for candidates who have demonstrated the characteristics he embodied, including responsibility, respect and compassion for others, dedication and honor. The scholarship, open to a graduating senior from Buncombe County, is for $500.00 and will be issued to a college or university of the student's choice.
The Foundation Scholarship Committee often looks at school and community participation when evaluating an applicant. If you are interested in finding opportunities for community service, you can look at the Hands On Network, an agency dedicated to connecting volunteers with volunteer opportunities.
City of Asheville Youth Leadership Academy - Opportunities for students to join the academy to develop as leaders in the community by interning in during the summer, participating in community service activities and leadership workshops during the year and receiving a $2,000 college savings account at completion.  Contact us for more details.
